The Area, Sporting &
Leisure Pursuits
For the non-angler, there are a host of alternative pursuits
to satisfy most appetites. We include a sample of what's on offer in the
near vicinity of the Estate and link you where possible to sites offering
more information in this regard.
Golf Courses:
The north west has a range of quality courses to pick from. The 18 hole
Championship Course at Bundoran is merely 3 miles from the Estate and
a round or two here is well worth looking into. Alternatively one may
consider a round at Rosses' Point (Sligo), Enniscrone (Sligo) or Murvagh
(Donegal) - all quality courses and just a sample of what's on offer in
the area.
Equestrian:
Horse Riding is to be enjoyed on the wide-open beaches and country lanes
in various locations throughout the immediate area. Homefield Equestrian
Center at Bundoran offers personal and attentive tuition to people of
all age groups and all walks of life with qualified instructors at ones'
disposal. In nearby Sligo stables can be found at Markree Castle Riding
Stables of Woodlands Equestrian Center.
Surfing:
A thriving sport in the Northwestern Region, the waves on beaches at Tullaghan
and Easkey attract a large number of surfers to the area throughout the
year. Surfworld, a specialist surfing store is situated in the Main Street
in Bundoran. Further information can be obtained by visiting their website
www.surfworldireland.com
Watersports:
Of the various other watersport AREA on offer Waterworld on the
Promenade at Bundoran is worth particular mention here. It is an award
winning Aqua Adventure park for children of all ages. Enjoy 2 leisure
pools, a slide pool with 3 slides - a Scute schute, Traffic Light slide
and Tornado Flume, plus the Whizzer Slide. Irelands' fastest slide extending
to over 65m in length, and there's more. Sailing is available at nearby
Mullaghmore in Co Sligo and quality blue flag beaches can also be found
at Mullaghmore and Rosses point on the shores of neighbouring Sligo.
Driving/Cycling/Walking - points of interest:
With such an abundance of lovely scenery in the region there is a lot
to explore in the area whether it be on foot by bike or by car. We could
recommend a drive through the Leitrim Glens, a drive through Yeats' country
taking in sights such as Ben Bulben - dramatic and imposing, or a seaside
alternative such as the coastal route from Dromore West to Eniscrone.
For Walkers/Cyclists one may consider the trail up Vartry Mountain on
the Shores of Lough Melvin, a walk along the Sligo Way or a hike up the
Ox Mountains.
Boat Tours:
Donegal Bay Waterbus is berthed at Donegal Harbour. The tour takes you
around Donegal Bay taking in local points of interest and lasts for around
70 minutes or so. Further information can be had by E-mail from the Harbour
Office, in Donegal Town.
Beauty & Relaxation:
Located at Waterworld, Aqua Mara provides one solution for those in need
of a 'wind down' from lifes' various stresses. Take a bath in a Seaweed
bath or lounge in the Physioacoustic Chair. Check out what's on offer
here at Waterworld or E-mail Aqua Mara for further details.

The Donegal Adventure Center has a lot to offer both adult and child through
various programmes it runs throughout the holiday period. For the Children
there is the Residential summer camp for example in which the kids can
be enrolled for a seven day period caters for the 10 - 17 year old age
group and comes at a cost of around €400.00 per week. AREA
range from mountain biking and canoeing to climbing and surfing. For Adults

at www.donegal-holidays.com
Ceol agus Craic: (Music & Entertainment)
When it comes to Irish Hospitality, there are perhaps too many good places
to eat out and savour the delights of the' Irish Pint' to list in any
one website. Our advice would be to"get out there and experience
these pleasures for oneself". Provision of music is a moveable feast
but for those who happen to be in the area in early August each year,
be advised of the Ballyshannon Folk and Traditional Music Festival - well
worth investigating with much happening throughout the day, extensive
street festivals and AREA for kids at the weekend. Sláinte
Crafts:
Donegal is by tradition renowned for its tweed and textile industry. Examples
of the craft that has been passed down from craftsman to craftsman throughout
generations of donegal handweavers can be found at Magees of Donegal.
Situated in Donegal town it's not too far from Lareen and may well be
worth a visit for those wishing to add a little bit of authentic Donegal
Tweed to their wardrobe. In close proximity to Lareen is the home of Beleek
fine porcelain ware. Situated just across the border with Northern Ireland
it is perhaps no more than a 20 minute drive and a must for fans of Beleek.
Also at your disposal are the showrooms of Donegal Parian China in nearby
Ballyshannon. A range of Craft from Stone Masonry to traditional/Celtic
Jewelry can be found in the Donegal Craft Village to be found in close
proximity of nearby Donegal town.
